Demo. These are not real sales. Every stop is synthetic data, built to show the map and an AI ingest pipeline. How the ingest works

About

About this demo

This is a working demo of a garage sale day map. It shows two things: a phone-friendly map with filters and a shareable favorites list, and an AI ingest pipeline that turns a sale list into structured records. It is not a live service and it lists no real sales.

What is real and what is not

  • Real: West Seattle Garage Sale Day exists, and the streets and blocks on the map are real.
  • Synthetic: all 30 stops. The hosts, items, hours and notes were written by hand for the demo. None of them was copied from the real sale list.
  • Sanitized:addresses are block level (“4500 block of California Ave SW”), never a house number. Each pin sits on the street at mid-block, so it does not point at a house. Hosts are street or neighborhood labels, never names.

What has been run

The ingest script calls Claude through the Anthropic SDK and checks every record against a Zod schema. For this demo it has only run in mock mode on a three-row sample, which skips the model and returns a fixed result. It has not been run on a real sale list. The ingest page shows the sample input, the output and the rules.

Privacy

There is no analytics, no account and no server. The site is a set of static files. Your favorites stay in your browser’s localStorage, and they go into the link only when you share it. The map tiles load from OpenStreetMap.
